STUDENTS GRADES ONE THROUGH FIVE
The Shannon Hills Bible Chapel Sunday School meets each Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. and offers a structured setting for teaching God’s Word. The Sunday School program spans the entire age range for all children and young adults. Starting with a fully staffed Baby Nursery and Toddler Class, classes continue through pre-school and onto Grade 1 through High School. Each class is taught by dedicated Christian teachers who have a deep and loving concern for all the children in our Sunday School. Our teaching materials and teaching aids are carefully monitored to conform to our belief in the fundamental truths taught in the Bible and which are briefly described on our Church bulletin. Our two-fold mission is to bring the children to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and to teach them to “…grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ…” II Peter 3:18.
Throughout the year, students accumulate points for attendance, being on time, bringing their Bibles, memorizing verses, completing their lessons, bringing visitors, and completing additional projects. Attendance pins begins after a student has attended class for three consecutive weeks. Thereafter, yearly pins are awarded after attending class for 52 weeks. Prizes are awarded annually based on points earned by the students. In the preschool department, there is a first and second place winner in each class. In grades one through twelve, prizes are awarded for all who accumulate at least 700 points. Departmental prizes are awarded to the student in each department with the highest point total, and include such things as gift certificates to Christian book stores, and the equivalent dollar value toward our summer camp or a Bible conference.
A major project of our Sunday School is our annual Daily Vacation Bible School, which is held during the summer months for children ages 4 through 16. We conduct our Bible School from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon that week. Among our many activities are Christian songs and stories, games, crafts, recreation, and refreshments. A commencement program is held on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. for all the family. Throughout the week, salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ is presented and many children are counseled. We rejoice in those who are saved at Daily Vacation Bible School. Through our Bible School, we also hope to reach the families that do not currently attend a meeting on a regular basis.
